Jaykwick moved to Minneapolis, MN at the age 4 and was raised by his mother Connie Hanisch.  Jay has a 14 year old brother, Jeral, an older sister Nikisha 26, and a young sister, Tristen.

Jaykwick began to rap at the age of 13 in 1997 with best friend and sidekick Dan Whatton, also 13, as "Gumbi" and "Dangerous Dan".  They honed their lyrical skills rhyming over other MCs instrumentals, recording tracks on a karaoke machine.  9 1/2 years later, in 2006, Dan aka D-Dubz and JayKwick are still going strong with scores of songs under their belt.  JayKwick moved to Florida in 2001, and In Feb '06, linked up with fellow musician/producer, Cort aka Cyipha, co-founder of NewFlo Entertainment, in Sarasota, FL.  Here, the two have combined their musical talent and business ambitions to create a new chapter of the Miami-based NewFlo Entertainment on Florida's West Coast.
